. . . Phyllis Green, Collections
If you've done any business at all with Joy! Communications, you've probably spoken
with Phyllis. From answering phones to invoicing and collections, helping customers
and dispatching technicians to assisting with service orders and processing lease
documentation, Phyllis touches on many aspects at Joy.
Phyllis has been at Joy for 5 years now. How did she arrive here? Well she was in
the market for a new position, and it was important to her to stay in communications
since that is her background. Joy! Communications was listed with the Chamber of
Commerce and so she filled out an application. After "politely pestering" Pete Engle
until she got an interview, she had three more follow-up interviews and then received
an offer.
Account collection is sometimes a touchy area. Phyllis brings a non-standard approach
that has worked well throughout her career. She's been in the telecommunications
arena since 1984 when she started off helping in her father's business with invoicing,
collections and customer service.
Her approach is to make a friend and build up the relationship with the client,
rather than the classic aggressive collections approach. With the economy the way
it has been recently, Phyllis says that a lot of Joy's clients are very happy with
this type of approach.
"This approach has led to keeping a lot of our clients tighter to us. They're more
apt to recommend us to a colleague or call us up for new work. It's wonderful when
the whole company works as a team to keep the client happy, and this is one part
of it."
